I used Canva’s new Magic Edit AI feature — here’s what I made
I had way too much fun doing this. You may have heard that Canva announced recently a slew of new features to their app. One that I was quite intrigued with is the Magic Edit effect. It uses artificial intelligence to add to or change photos. Here are some before and afters I made. I would have made more but there is a limit to how many you can make per day.
Before:
After: I highlighted my hair, and typed “blue hair”:
Before:
I highlighted my entire face, hair, and body, and typed “sharpen”, to see if it would make it less blurry in my face or hair. The result made me laugh:
Here’s another before:
I typed “green hair” and then “blue hair”:
Before:
I typed “add a cat”:
Before of a cake I made:
I highlighted the whole cake and typed “hamburger”:
Now look at this beautiful cake it made:
Before picture of a car:
I highlighted the car and typed “horse”:
Here is an old picture of my childhood dog:
After I asked it to change the dog to a “chihuahua”. Something strange happened with a 3rd ear:
A photo of our other dog:
After I told it to turn him into a shark:
Before of a photo of my dog:
I highlighted the dog and typed “pink fur”. Something very odd happened and made a tongue on the left side ear:
Me in a hallway:
After I asked it to add a ghost:
A doorway:
After I added “person” to the doorway:
My camera on my lap:
I highlighted the camera body and asked it to make it a “Canon camera”. It looks very real but it’s not quite right:
Another of me:
I highlighted my glasses/eyes, and asked it to add “green glasses”. It went horribly wrong:
